Ohio Fire Corps Announces a FREE Training Opportunity

When: Saturday, April 26, 2014, 8:00am-4:30pm – Registration opens at 7:30am

Location:  Columbiana County EMA, 215 South Market St., Lisbon, Ohio 44432

Purpose: The Ohio Fire Corps conference is an opportunity for Fire Corps members, first responders, and auxiliary members to come together to network, share ideas, and learn best practices for capacity building of their own organization.

Who Can Come: The conference is open to all Fire Corps members, firefighters, EMS, department leadership, and other supports of the fire service. Attendance is limited to 60 individuals.  Lunch will be provided at no charge to attendees.

Conference Highlights:

New Jersey native and Firehouse Magazine columnist – known best for his famous bow tie around FDIC for the past 30 years – Dr. Harry Carter will be speaking about team building and his viewpoint as the editor of on roadway safety.

Hancock, Maryland Fire Chief and national trainer Greg Yost will be sharing best practices for firefighter rehab.  He will provide his views from the officer’s seat on the impact his county’s rehab program has had for local firefighters.

From the ‘Xbox to the Box Alarm’ and straight from New York, recruitment guru Tiger Schmittendorf will be giving us his FDIC presentation on motivating our younger generations to get involved.

Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association is the leader in reputation management and CVVFA instructor  Candice McDonald will be sharing her nationally heard message on how to keep members from making headlines for the wrong reasons in today’s era of social media.

With cardiac issues being the leading cause of deaths among firefighters, Ohio Fire Corps wants to help you reduce the risk by bringing in The Ohio State University to provide information on how the families in your department can become heart healthy on a budget!
