Since its start in 2004, Fire Corps has helped fire and EMS departments build capacity by engaging community volunteers to assist in a variety of non-emergency roles. These community volunteers can make a real difference for their local department, both by expanding the services a department can offer and by enabling first responders to focus more on training and response activities.

Fire Corps in Ohio is a growing concept.  There are currently 36 registered programs in the state.   Program activities in Ohio range from providing rehab at the fire scene, fundraising, organizing special events and the promotion of disaster preparedness.

One of the most unique aspects of Ohio Fire Corps is the “Enhance for the Chance” youth preparedness campaign.  Through this campaign youth advocates travel to speak to other youth about enhancing their knowledge on fire prevention and for the chance of a disaster.
